The picks keep coming! The Flyers have closed out the third round, making their second pick of the round, and selecting Denver Barkey (great name), a center from the London Knights.

This pick is, in short, a fun one. Barkey is 5-foot-8 and brings a nice bit of scoring punch (to the tune of 22 goals and 59 points in 61 games). He’s a plus-skater, with good edgework and overall speed. He plays with good pace, too. He’s a tenacious player, a little bit of an aggitator. The broadcast, for whatever it’s worth, described him as “Travis Konecny-lite.” A number of scouts had him ranked higher than 95th, but we’ve seen a number of teams going after The Big Players earlier in this draft, so the size thing is almost certainly a reason – legitimate or not – for him sliding here.
This pick is a bit of a swing, but that’s what we like to see at this stage, and Barkey could well be an absolute steal for the Flyers at this point.
