You thought the Flyers were good? Oh, honey…

The Philadelphia Flyers scored three goals in regulation for the first time since November 5, and did so against the New York Islanders, the stingiest defense in hockey.

So, obviously, they blew a three-goal lead and then dropped the shootout to end what had been a good two-week stretch on a sour note, picking up only one of the last four potential standings points.

The game was the Flyers’ seventh to reach a shootout through 20 games this season. The Florida Panthers have been to six SOs, while no other team has been in more than four.

The Carolina Hurricanes, San Jose Sharks, Tampa Bay Lightning, Ottawa Senators, Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Rangers, Columbus Blue Jackets, and Dallas Stars have combined for eight appearances in the skills competition. So the Flyers lead the league in something, at least.

We talked about the blown lead, Vigneault’s lineup decisions, what’s going to become of the 3C position and a whole bunch more on the postgame. Listen to it. More than once. On separate devices.
