What to Watch For: The Carolina blueline is hurting. From Canes Country:

The Carolina blueline will certainly have a River Rat feel. Joining regulars Joe Corvo and Joni Pitkanen will be Tim Conboy, Casey Borer, Brett Carson, and Rodney. Corvo, (381) and Pitkanen, (289) have a total of 670 NHL games under their belts while the other four defensemen only have 35 games of experience between all of them.

Exploit this. It’s dollar dog night at the Wach. Oh, and we’re the hottest team in hockey in the last month. Damn this feels good.

Scouting the Enemy: Thank God tonight is the last time we play these guys this year. We know them as well as we know ourselves, at this point. Who the hell wrote this schedule?

Between The Pipes: Antero Niittymaki is in goal for the Flyers tonight. He’s 2-0 against Carolina while Marty is 0-1. Stevens really likes to play the percentages a little too much.

Michael Leighton is playing as Cam Ward is still injured.

Injury Report: Matt Carle is still out with what they’re calling an “intercostal tear”. I’m not a doctor and I don’t know what it means, but he’s out indefinitely, so uh… there’s that. philly.com:

It’s a muscle that goes between the ribs and can wrap from the front to the back.

Apparently, the pain Carle is experiencing is in the middle to lower back and it’s just not getting better. In fact, Carle said he still doesn’t feel any better after missing four games.
