Wednesday Morning Fly By: Media previews, Phantoms open camp in NY

  • Hey, a win. The Flyers looked much better last night in their first home game last night against Detroit, giving us all a nice calming feeling that we haven’t felt through the first three preseason contests. Besides ours below on the page, a few more recaps.. [CSN: One and Two] – [700 Level]
  • Ray Emery has another brand new mask, and he’s thinking about unveiling it at the Winter Classic. He hasn’t received it yet, but it will pay homage to Bernie Parent, Pelle Lindbergh, and Ron Hextall. [Flyer Flies]
  • The Adirondack Phantoms open camp today in Glens Falls, NY. The full roster… [Post-Star]
  • CSN has expanded their television coverage of the Flyers for the upcoming season, adding pre-game analysis before every game and a weekly magazine show called “The Orange Line” hosted by Keith Jones and John Boruk. In addition, almost all of the Flyers games will be broadcast in HD this season. [Official Website]
  • We’re blessed to have every Flyers game on local television, but not every team is so lucky. Only 66 of Tampa’s 82 games are scheduled to be on television, 81 of 82 Stars games, 61 of 82 Thrashers games, and just 65 of Carolina’s games will be on TV. If you want to watch every Senators game, you better subscribe to their pay-per-view service, because only 68 games are on local and national TV. [Puck The Media]
  • It was a big night for the future of the New York Islanders, as well as the potential future of hockey in Kansas City last night as the Isles and Kings played a game at KC’s brand-new Sprint Center. [Lighthouse Hockey]
  • Remember that whole “NHL exploring long-term contracts” nonsense? Wyshynski has the goods. [Puck Daddy]
  • Sticking with Puck Daddy, they launched their preview of the 09-10 Flyers yesterday. BSH is a part of it, so it’s good stuff, not to mention a glowing prediction. [Puck Daddy]
  • A few other outlets published previews of the Flyers upcoming season. By the way, we’ll publish our in-depth preview on Friday morning. Get pumped. [ESPN] – [TSN] – [Yahoo!]
