Wednesday Morning Fly By: In which the Flyers are the same as they were yesterday.

*Turns out that, apart from free agent signings, there isn’t a whole lot of hockey news on July 1. Your friends at SB Nation have a full rundown of all of yesterday’s signings (and there were a lot). [SB Nation]

*Or if you’re into the whole brevity thing, a simple list of trades is also available for your perusal. [SB Nation]

*The Flyers, handcuffed by terrible cap management, did not make any big exciting moves. The biggest move has Ray Emery returning as the backup goaltender for another season. [BSH]

*The Flyers also signed goalie Rob Zepp to a one-year deal; he’ll play for the Phantoms. [BSH]

*In addition to the free agency stuff there was also a pretty big trade, as the Senators sent Jason Spezza to the Stars for Alex Chiasson, prospects, and a pick. Dallas improved quite a bit yesterday. [Defending Big D]

*Scratch that, the Flyers are not the same as they were yesterday; late last night they added former Calgary forward Blair Jones. [CSN Philly]
