Dr. Jill Biden’s husband, Vice President Joe Biden, was born in Scranton and was a Senator from Delaware before taking his current job as VPOTUS.
Despite that status, though, his wife can still make him sleep on the couch, and as he told a crowd at the Union League in Chicago on Monday, if he doesn’t cheer for the orange and black, that’ll probably be his fate. This makes Jill Biden the coolest second lady in American history.
“I have to tell you I am guilty as charged. I am a Philadelphia Flyers fan and I make no bones about it. I was a Flyers fan before, but then I married a Philly girl.
“Philadelphia fans are the most, uh, most persistent fans in the world. My wife is counted among them….it’s a simple proposition. I root fervently for the Flyers or I sleep alone. It’s not a hard call. It’s not a hard call at all. That was one hell of a series, though.”
Biden went on to say that his wife’s travels with him to Africa prevented her from going to the critical sixth game in Philadelphia, which he said she believed the Flyers would have won if she had attended.
Dr. Biden was born in Hammonton, NJ and raised in Willow Grove, PA. She graduated from the University of Delaware, West Chester University and Villanova. She left her husband’s campaign just days before Election Day in 2008 to watch the Philllies win the World Series in person.
The VP understood, I’m sure. After all, the World Series, just like the Stanley Cup Finals, is a big f*cking deal.
Also, we now know who to blame for losing Game 6. Traveling to Africa? You owe us, Jill.
