We’ve had a ridiculous, unexpected, overwhelming response to BSH Fantasy Hockey, and after initially only having 30 spots across two leagues open, we decided to expand to 70 open spots in order to accomodate as many people as we possibly could. We still wound up with a wait list of about 15 people, but we have 100 participants in the festivities this year when all’s said and done. Pretty damn impressive.
We’ve gone with this awesome promotion/relegation format this year, as we outlined in our post earlier Monday, but since we expanded, we had to add another tier to the system. Instead of two tiers as we explained earlier, we’re now going with three tiers: the Champions League at the top, the Orange Division and Black Division in Tier 2, and the White Division and Gray Division in Tier 3.
Each of the five individual leagues hold 20 teams, and the rules are the same across all five leagues. If you sent us an email yesterday, you’ve already either received an invite or a notification that you’re on the wait list. We assigned everything right down the line in first come, first serve order, so if you were assigned to Tier 2, you were early. Tier 3, you were late. Wait list, you were too late.
But that doesn’t mean those on the wait list are out of luck. If you’ve received an invite to one of the leagues, make sure you answer by the 5 p.m. ET on Thursday or we’re going to fill your spot with those on the wait list — which also means to continue emailing me if you’re interested in joining.
Okay, now that that’s out of the way, let’s detail the entire format, the final rules and the draft time.
All the leagues are publicly viewable, although some features can only be seen if you’re in the league. This way, we can see how we all compare across leagues.

All five leagues will draft at 7:45 p.m. ET on Sunday, October 2. We’re not going to move them because ultimately, we can’t make 100 people happy. Sunday nights are generally the nights where most people are free, so that’s what we’re going with. If you can’t make it, just pre-rank and hope for the best. It happens.
Here’s how promotion and relegation will work next offseason:
— The top 10 in the Champions League will stay. The bottom 10 will be relegated: five to Tier 2 Orange and five to Tier 2 Black.
— The top five in the Orange Division will be promoted to the Champions League. The top five in the Black Division will also be promoted to the Champions League.
— Teams ranked 5 through 10 in each Tier 2 division will stay. The bottom 10 teams in each Tier 2 division will be relegated to Tier 3.
— The top 10 teams in each Tier 3 division will be promoted to Tier 2. The bottom 10 teams in each Tier 3 division will… well, those spots will be open for next year.
Now, rules. Here’s what we have (click to enlarge if it’s too small):
We’re actually going to make one change here, locking eliminated teams, but other than that, that’s what we’re going with. We need two commissioners for each Tier 3 league. If you’re in one of those leagues and interested in what barely amounts to a job, shoot me an email at broadstreethockey@gmail.com and let me know.
Good luck!
