There was a post over at Japers’ Rink last week detailing the Capitals’ top 10 fights from the last few years. J.P. went and searched around hockeyfights.com and used their rankings to determine which ones were the best. I thought it was a cool idea, and considering the Flyers lead the league in fights this season, I decided to do a similar post.
I didn’t put two and two together though and realize that we have a ton of fights compared to just about everybody else. I had to expand the list a bit. I also figured that, what the hell.. I’ll date it back to the lockout. So, here they are, the Top 25 Flyers fights since the 2004/2005 season, as rated by hockeyfights.com.
A few observations:
- Riley Cote doesn’t win that often, but he stands in there and takes a lot of punches.
Colton Orr loves fighting against the Flyers. - Every time Cote and Shawn Thornton hook up, it’s at center ice in Boston and it’s a really good fight.
Ben Eager losing to Gary Roberts was really embarrassing. - The last Flyers fight at the Spectrum (number 25 on the list) was won by the Flyers. Fitting.
This might be some of the most fun I’ve ever had researching a blog post. Your opinions on the list? What about each fight? How accurate is that “winner” column?
