The Philadelphia Flyers will kick off the home schedule of their 50th anniversary season on Thursday night, and it will be the first home opener in team history without Ed Snider.
His presence will be felt, however, in more ways than one. The banner you see above — sorry it’s a little dark and blurry — will be raised to the rafters during the pregame ceremony, right in between the team’s five retired jersey banners and the two Stanley Cup banners.
Right where Ed Snider belongs for the rest of time. Bring some tissues if you’re going to the game tomorrow.
