Too often in Philadelphia sports, we are tortured by teams that get us excited and then let us down. Tonight, with the Flyers playing great hockey of late and a huge game against the Red Wings in the offing, it was another perfect chance for this team and this sports town to let us down.
But nope. They were chomping at the bit to get on the ice tonight, and damn did they show it.

Another angle of the Simmonds goal. Schenn shot off the draw, Wayne crashes the net. Set play, right? pic.twitter.com/7QJQKG5L9G

The franchise record for shots in a period is 25. The Flyers had 23, and the Red Wings finished with three.
As a friendly reminder, a regulation win tonight puts the Flyers at a 60+ percent chance of a playoff spot, and a loss would drop them to a roughly 30 percent chance. Biggest game of the year. And even better — this entire season is alllll gravy and nothing but fun the rest of the way. LETS GO.
