Steve Mason could return vs. Coyotes; Ryan White to Phantoms for conditioning

Steve Mason missed the first half of this prolonged Flyers road trip to injury, but he’ll be ready to go on Monday night when the Flyers take the ice against the Arizona Coyotes.

Craig Berube didn’t say whether or not Mason would get the start against the Coyotes, but did note that he’s been cleared by the doctors. Rob Zepp is still with the team and will likely return to the Phantoms if Mason decides to suit up on Monday night.

Zepp could be joined on the cross-country flight by Ryan White, who’s been assigned to the Phantoms for conditioning. The Phantoms are in upstate New York on New Years Eve, taking on the Binghamton Senators.

White was signed to a two-way contract back during the offseason, so there’s no guarantee that he’ll join the Flyers once his conditioning assignment is over. There’s already a glut of fourth line centers on the NHL roster — Chris VandeVelde, Pierre-Edouard Bellemare (who has a minor injury as well) and Zac Rinaldo — so White has work in front of him if he wants an NHL job.
