Shayne Gostisbehere is special. We all know this. But just how special a hockey player he will become is yet to be determined, and there’s certainly a long way for him to go before we start comparing him to Nicklas Lidstrom, or other Hall of Famers.

That comparison comes from Prashanth Iyer, who writes about the Red Wings over at Winging It In Motown. So he knows Lidstrom pretty well. And if he’s making that comparison, there must be something to it.
Again — we’re not saying Ghost is Lidstrom or anything. But the as Iyer points out, the awareness in the defensive end that led to his goal last night was indeed Lidstrom-esque. That’s worth appreciating.
