RALEIGH — Claude Giroux and Danny Briere are housemates and Flyers teammates, blah blah blah, but they’ll be playing against each other in Sunday’s All-Star Game.
Briere was selected in Round 6 by Team Lidstrom. Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks made the announcement for Team Lidstrom, which could be found as ironic for reasons we won’t get in to.
Giroux sat around for quite some time after Briere’s selection. He had to wait until the 13th round when he was selected by Team Staal. He’ll wear red, Briere will wear blue.
Peter Laviolette will be rooting for Briere, too. He was named as the coach of team Lidstrom earlier in the afternoon.
Unfortunately, camera issues prevented me from getting video of the three Flyers here in Raleigh backstage after the draft. I’ll work on it for tomorrow.
