The Philadelphia Flyers returned to action on Monday night trying to get back on track. Head Coach Scott Gordon tried to switch things up on the power play, putting five forwards on the ice at once. The change would help the Flyers in this one. James van Riemsdyk started the scoring and comeback after being down 2-0 with a deflection on the power play. He then scored again to tie things to end the first.

After Minnesota took another lead, Nolan Patrick scored back-to-back goals to give the Flyers a lead of their own in the second. They wouldn’t stop there as Wayne Simmonds connected on his 14th and 15th of the season to make it a 6-4 game. To put the icing on the cake, JVR put home an empty-netter and made it rain hats at the Wells Fargo Center. Carter Hart battled adversity after quick goals to start the game and kept his team in it. It wasn’t his best game, but he battled and was backed by his offense. The Flyers won 7-4 and have now won two of their last three.
