Lehigh Valley’s phantom hopes
The Phantoms headed into last weekend knowing it would make or break their season. They had three games on the schedule that would be crucial to determine if they were contenders or pretenders. Unfortunately for Philadelphia hockey fans, they turned out to be pretenders.
The Phantoms lost a respectable game at Hartford Friday night before being trounced on Saturday (6-1 at Worcester) and Sunday (3-0 vs. Penguins). But that’s not all, the Phantoms had another game this week Wednesday night against the Syracuse Crunch. And boy, did they get crunched. Syracuse skated all over the Phantoms to a 6-1 final score.
All in all the Phantoms have now lost their last four games by a combined score of 18 to 4, including their last three by a combined score of 15-2. That is not what you want to see at all.

With Nick Cousins up with the big club and Brandon Manning being called up, the Phantoms two leading scorers are now in the NHL.
Jason Akeson and Andrew Gordon continue to chase Manning, each forward has three points in the last five games.

Nicolas Aube-Kubel continued his tear, tallying seven points in his final five games to end the season with 80 points in 61 games. He has definitely been one of the Flyers prospects that has progressed the most this season.
Radel Fazleev ended the season hot for the Hitmen, putting up six assists in his final five games. 51 points in 71 games isn’t too shabby for a guy like Fazleev who continues to push towards his NHL dream.
Danick Martel, the undrafted free agent, ended the season on a cold streak. He had only six points in his last five games, ending the season with 102 points in 64 games.
Samuel Morin and Travis Sanheim were both impressive this season. After sticking with the big club throughout the whole preseason and suffering an early jaw injury, Morin finished out the season with nearly a point per game. His size alone makes him stand out but his offensive ability is there too. Sanheim ended the season as the highest scoring defenseman in the WHL. He also nearly had a point per game and has solidified his spot as the Flyers best defensive prospect.
