Phantoms take on Hartford in third game in four days

Let’s just forget about last night’s 5-1 loss to Providence.

The Phantoms take on Hartford tonight in their third game in four days and third meeting with the Wolf Pack this season who have beaten Lehigh Valley in regulation and overtime in November and December.

Hartford (29-16-4-3) currently sits in fourth place in the Eastern Conference with 65 points, 11 points ahead of the 11th ranked Phantoms (24-22-5-1). With 24 games remaining in the regular season, the Phantoms hope to move into that eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference despite owning a six-point deficit from currently eighth-place Worcester.

Those six points will be a tough acquisition, as the Phantoms have struggled at home in 2015, winning just two of 10 home contests in the new calendar year, and with four of their next five games played on home ice, Lehigh Valley must find a way to overcome their “fixable mistakes” in the PPL Center.

The Phantoms are 10-10-1 overall in 2015, with great success on the road including three huge overtime wins in February.

Last night, Anthony Stolarz was pulled from the net after allowing four goals in the second period. That’s the sixth time this season that the rookie goaltender was relieved mid-game. ECHL call-up Martin Ouellette allowed one goal on six shots.
