So the gang over at Pensburgh are promoting a really, really cool idea for the month of February: they’re hosting a pledge drive to make a donation that will benefit the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation.

What we decided to do was to accept pledges for donations based on what happens in certain Pens games, as well as the Olympics. It’s a fun way to make donating a little bit more vested and interactive. Our pledge drive will end after the Stadium Series game vs. the Blackhawks on March 1st.

As a Flyers fan, you have some pretty neat potential options for pledging. Â You can go all out and pledge a certain amount for every game the Penguins lose (!), or you could show some support for the Flyers‘ Olympians heading overseas to Sochi. Â You could even pledge a certain amount for every laughable goal that Marc-Andre Fleury happens to allow (so, every single one of them.)
I’ll be making a donation for every goal Mark Streit scores for Switzerland and every point Kimmo Timonen scores for Finland over the duration of the Olympics. Â I guess I’ve got a thing for dashing offensive-defensemen.

At the end of the final game (the Penguins’ Stadium Series game vs. the Chicago Blackhawks on March 1), Mike will send out emails to everyone regarding the payment process; that process will be handled through Paypal.  If you don’t have a Paypal account, but would like to donate, you can get in touch with Broad Street Hockey or myself; I’ll be making a payment when all is said and done.
