Nolan Patrick out with upper-body injury

Flyers General Manager Ron Hextall announced that center Nolan Patrick will miss the next 7-10 days with an upper-body injury.

Patrick was injured early in the first period against the Senators and did not return to action after logging 3:30 of ice time before departing. It doesn’t appear that the former second overall draft pick has anything seriously wrong so that’s promising that he’ll presumably miss just three or four games with that given timetable.

Patrick did not return to the ice after the following shift below, where he goes into the boards. He also took a high stick earlier in the period as well, so it was a rough night for Patrick in Ottawa to say the least.

Expectations are high for Patrick this season following a completely healthy (yes, the irony), offseason of training and strong finish to his rookie campaign in 2017-18. Slotted in as the Flyers’ number two center behind Sean Couturier, Patrick hasn’t managed a point in four games thus far though he was flying against the Sens prior to the injury.

Just 20-years-old, Patrick does carry a bit of an injury list in the recent past. He missed time in his draft year with hernia issues, helping cause him to fall to the Flyers (Not all bad!), and suffered through the effects of those said core muscle issues along with a concussion to start his pro career a season ago. Now there’s whatever this ailment is, though he won’t miss much time as of now and should be ready to get back to his sophomore season shortly.

The Flyers are back in action on Saturday afternoon when they welcome the Vegas Golden Knights to the Wells Fargo Center following an opening night win in Vegas by a final score of 5-2 back on October 4th.
