NHL set to lockout players at midnight Saturday

Without a new CBA, the NHL is going to lock out their players for the second time in eight years. The Thursday vote was unanimous.

For a great recap of where we currently stand, read James Mirtle’s post explaining the financial difference in the two proposals. Essentially, both sides have the players’ share of revenues declining over time, but the NHL has the players’ starting at 49 percent while the players have themselves starting at 54 percent and staying between 52 and 53 percent over the next four years.

There is much more to the proposals, but for a clear explanation of the two biggest issues, Mirtle has you covered.

So here we sit. With little movement since then, there is nothing left to do* but wait.
