The 2015 NHL Draft is here. On Friday night in South Florida, the NHL’s 30 teams officially kick off the 2015-16 league year with the annual event in Sunrise, Fla.
It’s bigger than ever this year with two big names expected to go right off the top: Connor McDavid to the Edmonton Oilers and Jack Eichel to the Buffalo Sabres. But after that, the rest of the first round is a total free-for-all, with some 50 players sitting with potential to go in Round 1. That’ll make for an exciting night.
On the trade front, it could be a busy night — it almost always is on Night 1 of the NHL Draft.
It will take three hours for the 30 teams to run through Round 1 on Friday, beginning at 7 p.m. ET from BB&T Center, home of the Florida Panthers. Everybody will reconvene on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. ET for Rounds 2 through 7, which will take another three hours to complete. All in all, 211 picks will be made.
The Philadelphia Flyers hold 10 picks in the draft and two picks in Friday’s Round 1 — the 7th overall selection and the 29th overall selection.
