The NHL is dumb, so they announced a bunch of league award winners at 5 p.m. on Friday. Or maybe they’re smart and they realize nobody really cares anyway. Whatever.
No Flyers won any of the league awards, as you’d expect. They weren’t even close to being in the running for any of the eight that were announced on Friday, four of which were awarded based on vote totals. Here’s the full breakdown of the voting on those four awards:
Frank J. Selke Trophy
Flyers receiving votes: Max Talbot (tied for 35th overall) and Ruslan Fedotenko (tied for 38th overall).
General Manager of the Year Award
Paul Holmgren did not get a single vote.
Jack Adams Award
Peter Laviolette did not get a single vote.
Lady Byng Memorial Trophy
Flyers receiving votes: Matt Read (finished 15th overall), Kimmo Timonen (39th overall), Claude Giroux (53rd overall).
The rest are coming Saturday night before Game 2 of the Cup Final, and you can ignore those announcements also.
