Monday Morning Fly By: We made it

*Preseason is long as heck, huh? No matter, we have come out on the other side and this week the Flyers will open their 2018-19 season. Here’s what we learned from the final preseason game. Closed out on a high note baby! [BSH]

*Saturday’s game was the first one for Sean Couturier and Wayne Simmonds, both of whom performed respectably. [Philly.com]

*Rookie Mikhail Vorobyev did exactly what every rookie, apparently, needs to do to make this team out of camp: leave them no choice. [NBC Sports Philly]

*It would appear that Phil Myers did leave them a choice, because he’s not making the team out of camp. Was he the best defenseman in the preseason? Not even close. Was he the worst? Not even remotely close. [BSH]

*Speaking of Myers, he was one of three players officially cut yesterday afternoon. The team still has one more cut to make, and they’ll allegedly do it today. [BSH]

*SOMEONE seems to think the Flyers have a good chance of missing the ‘yoffs this season. [ProHockeyTalk]

*Given what we’ve seen from the defense this preaseason, the Flyers are probably going to need to score a lot of goals. [Philly.com]

*Pascal Laberge continues to be plagued with injury and had to have surgery on his hip last week. [BSH]

*We are going to spend the days leading up to opening night in Vegas previewing our Metro Division foes; first up: those Carolina Hurricanes. [BSH]

*Next up we look at the Columbus Blue Jackets, who might actually Do Something this season. [BSH]

*Gritty met the Phillie Phanatic this weekend and it was as good as you’d expect that to be. [NBC Sports Philly]

*And finally, Gritty *also* got the Saturday Night Live treatment, so it’s fair to say that the kid’s a star. [Philly.com]
