Michal Neuvirth’s new mask pays tribute to Ed Snider

Michal Neuvirth has a new mask for this season – and it’s a special one.

It’s his second year with the Philadelphia Flyers. So far, we’ve seen him sneak a Flyers tribute into his Czech World Cup mask; this tribute, on the other hand, is much more obvious.

It’s for Ed Snider.

And for a closeup:

This seems like such an obvious thing to do, and major props to both Neuvirth and goalie helmet artist Dave Gunnarsson for putting it together. They took the design the Flyers used in the playoffs, after Snider’s passing, incorporating the owner’s silhouette into the logo – and then of course, some rather nice portraits of the man himself up above.

Plus, it’s just a really good-looking helmet in general.

It’s going to be great to see this one throughout the year.
