From Frank Seravalli of the Daily News:
A team source told the Daily News yesterday that Leighton,
who has yet to appear in a Flyers uniform since Patrick Kane clinched the Stanley Cup for Chicago in overtime of Game 6 on June 9(Ed. Note: WHY MUST YOU BRING THAT UP FRANK), will start in net tonight against the Los Angeles Kings at the Staples Center as the Flyers look to avoid a three-game losing streak.Coach Peter Laviolette would not confirm or deny the move yesterday – though he has never been one to announce his lineup ahead of time.
No word on who will be the backup, but knowing how Peter Laviolette does his roster business, this could be a turning point in the Flyers goaltending situation. If Michael Leighton can come in and play well, he could cement himself as one of the two goaltenders for some time.
What do you think of the possibility that Leighton gets the start tonight? UPDATE: The Flyers have announced the news as official.
