Max Talbot injury: Flyers forward out indefinitely with broken leg

It didn’t look good when Max Talbot gimped down the tunnel during last night’s win over the Washington Capitals, not placing any weight on his left leg. Now, we know exactly what happened: Talbot broke that leg and will be out indefinitely, the Flyers announced Monday morning.

The injury will almost certainly end Talbot’s season with just 13 games remaining in the 2013 season.

Talbot has been a bit less important to the Flyers than he was a year ago, where he emerged as a defensive leader and a surprising goal scorer. His production has tapered off as we probably should have expected, but he’s still been a useful penalty killer and an important defensive cog in the Flyers’ forward corps.

Losing him hurts, especially given the overall injury state of the team and their sudden inclusion in the playoff race.
