It’s not like the top hockey writers in the world are doing game recaps for wire services or anything, but come on, Canadian Press. We expect better than this.
Here’s a quote from the CP’s recap of last night’s win over the Jets:

Bounced back from what, exactly? Having a shitty defense in front of him?
The Flyers goaltender made 24 saves as Philadelphia won on the road for the just the second time this season with a 3-2 victory over the Winnipeg Jets.
“It’s a very important two points for us,” said Bryzgalov, who noted they have four more road games ahead in the next few days.
The veteran Russian goalie …
Gotta slip the fact that he’s Russian in there, right? No ulterior motive there I’m sure.
… had been pulled from Monday’s 5-2 loss to the Maple Leafs in Toronto after giving up four goals on 14 shots.
And everybody who watched the game will tell you it wasn’t his fault, of course.
Brayden Schenn, Kimmo Timonen, on the power play, and Tye McGinn scored for the Flyers (6-7-1) on Tuesday. Jakub Voracek had two assists.
Andrew Ladd scored both goals for the Jets (5-6-1), the last in the dying seconds. Winnipeg was coming off a 1-0 win in Ottawa on Saturday.
Bryzgalov has struggled this season but was solid as the Jets came on strong in the first and second periods.
Okay, that’s the real kicker. On what planet (ha, see what I did there?) has Bryzgalov struggled this season? This is a day after Paul Holmgren went on the radio and said Bryzgalov has been the Flyers best player this season, which anybody who’s objectively watched a single game this season would also point out.
This might seem like a tiny thing, but it’s not hard for the media to shape an opinion about a player. It happened with Bryzgalov a year ago when he came to the Flyers and the (undeserved) reputation that stuck with him as a crazy Russian goalie who’s not any good at his job is seeping into this season, truth about his game be damned.
I don’t know how many people read this CP report on last night’s game, but hopefully they’re not relying on it for an informative account of the game or the Flyers’ season to date. It’s not hard to screw up a straight, basic recap of a hockey game like a wire recap the CP puts out, yet they did it last night.
