How we are supporting Oskar Lindblom in his fight against cancer

After the devastating news last week of Oskar Lindblom’s diagnosis with Ewing’s sarcoma, I started to brainstorm how I can help. The only thing I know to do in a crisis is move, move, move, and this is a crisis. With our Festivus party coming up, it didn’t feel right to not acknowledge what Oskar is going through while we have a charity element present at our party.

We will be raffling off an Oskar Lindblom authentic Adidas jersey with all proceeds going to Hockey Fights Cancer. We will not physically have the jersey at the party, Christmas shipping and all, we will ask for your jersey size and have it shipped to your home/office/PO Box, whatever. For those who donate, we will have 300 “I fight for” signs printed where you can write notes to Oskar, should you choose. Tickets for the raffle will 1 for $2, 3 for $5, 10 for $10. We will accept cash, Venmo, and PayPal at the event.

Now, I know that a lot of you will be unable to attend out Festivus party and that you still want Oskar to know that you support him in the fight for his life. I can’t do both a physical raffle and an online raffle, but if you would like to donate along with Broad Street Hockey, you can PayPal us (it will say Ice Sport Enterprises LLC, that is very specifically Bill, Kelly, Steph, and Charlie) or you can Venmo us. Make sure you specify in the notes that it is for #OskarStrong. Every cent collected will be donated to Hockey Fights Cancer. Of course, you can donate to them directly if that is a better option for you.

You can also print the Hockey Fights Cancer image above, write notes to Oskar on it, take a photo and send to me at Stephanie.Driver@sbnation.com. This is the most important part — The Flyers have agreed to give Oskar our notes of support and encouragement. No matter where you are in the world, and feel free to let him know where you are located, you can personally let him know that you are with him.

Another way we are supporting Oskar is by writing him in as the Metro Division captain for the All-Star Game. You can vote up to 10 times a day, so vote often!

We are all with you Oskar! #OskarStrong
