Today the AHL announced the 2019 All-Star rosters and two Phantoms found their way onto the list. We had previously learned that Colin McDonald had been named playing captain for the Atlantic Division, and now we know that teammate Greg Carey will be joining him.

This is a first time honor for Carey, who currently leads the Phantoms with 16 goals and 34 points through the first 32 games of the season. The fifth year pro is also second on the team in assists with 18 in total, and second in average Game Score at 0.99. League-wide Carey is top ten in both goals and points.
For McDonald, the offensive production may have slowed down, with just three goals in 31 games this season, but he’s still an important member of the Phantoms and is the longest tenured captain in franchise history. This will be his third AHL All-Star game.
Both Carey and McDonald are former Springfield Falcons, and while the team name may be different, the city hasn’t changed and the fans surely have memories of these two from their time there.
