Generally speaking when we write game previews, we include full lineups for each team. That’s a little different on trade deadline day, of course, because we don’t even know who is going to be on the team by the time the puck drops tonight.
But the Flyers will host the Calgary Flames at Wells Fargo Center nonetheless, and even if they do sell off pieces today, this game will still be a big one in the playoff picture. Entering the evening, the Flyers are three points behind the Penguins for the final wild card spot, tied with the Devils with 67 points.
The biggest news for the Flyers will be with forward Jake Voracek. He sat out Saturday’s win against Arizona with a lower-body injury, and he was seen entering the arena before the game with a boot on his foot. So that’s bad news. We will learn more about his status today after he is evaluated.
Calgary comes to town after a 6-4 loss in Ottawa on Saturday, and obviously the story that we will all be bombarded with tonight is the Triumphant Return Of South Jersey Native Johnny Gaudreau. Whatever, he’s a fine little hockey player. Moving on.
No word yet on goaltenders, although with the way Michal Neuvirth has played lately we would not be shocked if he played again tonight.
