The Flyers will take the Wells Fargo Center ice for the final time in preseason on Wednesday night when they host the New Jersey Devils. The next time they see the South Philadelphia ice will be Monday, October 12 when the regular season is already three games old and they’re hosting the Florida Panthers.
That’s two weeks away, though. Tonight the Flyers are still in tune-up mode, and hopefully-not-get-injured mode, which would be a nice break from the near-nightmare we went through on Monday night at Madison Square Garden.
Michael Raffl is still out from that game, and Sean Couturier is still out after an injury over the weekend. Good news is that Jakub Voracek and Matt Read are back from injury scares and will play tonight.
Here are the expected lines (via):
- Schenn – Giroux – Voracek
- Gagner – Lecavalier – Simmonds
- Read – Laughton – Umberger
- VandeVelde – White – Bellemare
- Schultz – Streit
- Del Zotto – Medvedev
- Manning – Schenn
Andrew MacDonald and Radko Gudas are scratches. Up top, Brayden Schenn’s getting a big opportunity due to Raffl’s absence, and Scott Laughton is still around, fighting for a center spot with Couturier out. Chris Porter and Colin McDonald were placed on waivers earlier in the day and will end up in Lehigh Valley.
Michal Neuvirth will start in goal. The Devils lineup is stupid and you shouldn’t care about it because hoooooooooly crap that team is bad and boring.
