Flyers sign fourth-line center Ryan White on two-way deal

No idea if this is for the Flyers or the Phantoms, but the Flyers have signed UFA center Ryan White to a one-year, two-way contract. White has played 141 NHL games, most recently 52 of them with the Montreal Canadiens last season.

In those 141 NHL games, White has 17 points and 232 penalty minutes. He’s a fourth-line center who was used in really, really tough defensive situations last season with the Habs. Read a full breakdown of his 2013-14 season here.

I asked Andrew Berkshire, who covers the Habs, about White.

He can be an okay defensive sacrificial guy, but he’s basically an average 4th liner who’s awesome at trolling. With the right coaching he’s a penalty drawing machine
