Undrafted Free Agent
Myers fired home the eventual game-winner in Friday’s victory for his third goal of the season. He has 10 points in 16 games this season.
Mark Friedman (D): 3 GP, 1 assist, 6 shots, 6 PIM
2014 3rd Round Pick, 86th overall
After going four straight games without a point, Friedman picked up an assist on Saturday. He has nine points (one goal, eight assists) in 16 games this season. He had all of 16 in 65 last year for the Phantoms.
German Rubtsov (C): 2 GP, 2 shots
2016 1st Round Pick, 22nd overall
Rubtsov has been banged up for a bit and didn’t factor into the scoring on Wednesday and Friday. He left Friday’s game early and did not play on Saturday. Here is the hit in question. Hopefully he isn’t out too long. The Germ has 10 points (six goals, four assists) in his first 14 AHL games.
Mikhail Vorobyev (C), 3 GP, 1 goal, 2 assists, 6 shots, 6 PIM
2015 4th Round Pick, 104th overall
Vorobyev picks up his 2nd AHL goal of the season on Wednesday. Since being demoted to the Phantoms, he has six points in eight games.
Carsen Twarynski (LW): 3 GP, 1 goal, 1 assist, 2 shots, 6 PIM
2016 3rd Round Pick, 82nd overall
Finally! Twarynski tally’s his first goal of the season. It only took 13 games. With an assist in Saturday’s game as well, it gives him three points in 14 games.
David Kaše (RW): 3 GP, 1 assist, 2 shots
2015 5th Round Pick, 128th overall
A relatively quiet week for our Czech friend. The first year AHLer is up to 10 points (four goals, six assists) in 13 games.
Connor Bunnaman (C): 3 GP, 1 goal, 4 shots
2016 4th Round Pick, 109th overall
Bunnaman scores a goal in Saturday’s game, his 2nd of the season. Bunnaman has struggled in his first AHL season and has been a frequent healthy scratch. He has three points in 10 games.
Carter Hart (G): 3 GP, 8 GA, 64 saves
2016 2nd Round Pick, 48th overall
Certainly a tale of three different games. On Wednesday he had his best performance of the year, making 35 saves on 37 shots. Then things went very poorly on Friday, when he was pulled after letting in three goals on eight shots. Hart sort of rebounded Saturday, stopping 24 of 27, but still took the loss. The SV% has dipped to .884 in his first AHL season. That ranks him 34th among qualified goalies in the AHL.

Morgan Frost (C), Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds (OHL)
2017 1st Round Pick, 27th overall
Frost netted the game-winner in OT Sunday. It was his 14th goal of the season and 37th point in 23 games. He’s still a bit behind (1.61) his point-per-game pace from last season (1.67).
Isaac Ratcliffe (LW), Guelph Storm (OHL)
2017 2nd Round Pick, 35th overall
Ratcliffe takes this nifty pass for his 15th goal of the season. The fourth-year OHLer has 26 points in 22 games.
Matthew Strome (LW), Hamilton Bulldogs (OHL)
2017 4th Round Pick, 106th overall
- 11/14 – 3 assists, 4 shots, 0 for 1 FOW
- 11/15 – 1 goal, 6 shots, 5 for 11 FOW
- 11/18 – 0 shots, 2 for 4 FOW/
An interesting season continues for Strome who notched three more assists to give him 16 through 22 games. He had just 31 assists in 65 games last season. You can check out his eighth goal of the season here.
Maksim Sushko (RW), Owen Sound Attack (OHL)
2017 4th Round Pick, 107th overall
Sushko has been really good the past few weeks, putting together six goals and 12 assists in his last 14 games. After a slow start, he looks to be back in 2017-18 form in which prospect-heads began to notice him after a strong second OHL season and WJC with Team Belarus.
Wyatte Wylie (D), Everett Silvertips (WHL)
2018 5th Round Pick, 127th overall
The offensively gifted defenseman doesn’t seem to be slowing down at all. Wylie has 23 points (five goals, 18 assists) in 24 games. He is tied for the third-most points in the WHL among defensemen.
Egor Zamula (D), Calgary Hitmen (WHL)
Undrafted Free Agent
The blistering hot streak continues for Zamula. After no points in his first eight games, he now has 15 (three goals, 12 assists) in his last 14 games.
Notable European performers this week
Linus Högberg (D), Växjö Lakers HC (SHL)
2016 5th Round Pick, 139th overall
Nothing but consistent 2nd pairing minutes for Högberg, but that’s fine for me for the 20 year old.
David Bernhardt (D), Djurgårdens IF (SHL)
2016 7th Round Pick, 199th overall
Still slow-going for Bernhardt as it appears Djurgårdens will continue to move him along slowly as he works through whatever it is that is ailing him.
Adam Ginning (D), Linköping HC (SHL)
2018 2nd Round Pick, 50th overall
Ginning’s time-on-ice continues to fluctuate, however he did factor into Linköping’s scoring in Thursday’s game. The assists were his first of the season through 19 games.
Olle Lycksell (RW/C), Linköping HC (SHL)
2017 6th Round Pick, 168th overall
It’s been a few weeks since Lycksell has put up any points in a game. He remains at five (one goal, four assists) in 19 games.
Marcus Westfält (C), Brynäs IF (SHL)
2018 7th Round Pick, 205th overall
Westfält has not scored any points in his 10 games with Brynäs this season.
Felix Sandström (G), HV71 (SHL)
2015 3rd Round Pick, 70th overall
Sandström picked up a victory this week. It has not been an even split in starts for HV71 in recent weeks. His SV% is up to .895 in eight games. Alex Appleyard recently stated that even with the ugly SV%, he’s been playing well overall.
Samuel Ersson (G), Västerås IK (Allsvenskan)
2018 5th Round Pick, 143rd overall

Ersson has been a pleasant surprise this season as he dominates Allsvenskan in his first season. He has a .937 SV% through 11 games. Appleyard had a nice writeup of Ersson for The Athletic this week.
Ivan Fedotov (G), Salavat Yulaev Ufa (KHL)
2015 7th Round Pick, 188th overall
It’s been a fine bounce-back year for Fedotov, who struggled mightily in 2017-18. He has .926 SV% in 13 games, which is right in line with where he was at in 2016-17 as a 18-19 year old (he’s 21 now).
Kirill Ustimenko (G), MHK Dynamo St. Petersburg (MHL)
2017 3rd Round Pick, 80th overall
Ustimenko participating in a U20 tournament for Team Russia. He should be back in MHL action next week.
Notable collegiate performers this week
Wade Allison (RW), Western Michigan University
2016 2nd Round Pick, 52nd overall
Allison still isn’t ready for back-to-back games, but in the two games he’s appeared in since his return from a torn ACL have been pretty positive. You can look at his goal from Saturday and think “man, the Flyers need a winger like this”.
Joel Farabee (LW), Boston University
2018 1st Round Pick, 14th overall
Farabee scored a power-play goal on Friday, his third goal of the season. The freshman has six points in nine games.
Tanner Laczynski (C/W), Ohio State University
2016 6th Round Pick, 169th overall
Laczynski has 11 points (five goals, six assists) in nine games in what is his junior season. His 1.22 point-per-game mark is 31st in NCAA. Here is his goal from Friday.
Gavin Hain (C/W), University of North Dakota
2018 6th Round Pick, 174th overall
Hain returns to the UND lineup after a brief bought with mono. The freshman has one assist in his first five collegiate games.
Jay O’Brien (C), Providence College
2018 1st Round Pick, 19th overall
O’Brien is still out of the lineup, likely because of a head-injury. It sounds like he might be back this weekend though.
Brendan Warren (LW), University of Michigan

Quiet out of the two-week break for Cates and UM-D. Cates remains at six points (three goals, three assists) in 12 games.

Usually Kalynuk is racking up the points, rather than the penalty minutes. He has 11 points (five goals, six assists) in 12 games. That is just five points off the NCAA lead.
Jack St. Ivanny (D), Yale University
2018 4th Round Pick, 112th overall
No games for Yale this week. They’ll be back in action next weekend.
Matej Tomek (G), University of Nebraska-Omaha
