Flyers Lose in Shootout Yet Again, Move Back Into Tie for First

For reasons that aren’t entirely clear, this game has floundered recaplessly for several hours now.  Let’s put it out of its misery with several quick bullet shots:

  • For me, this game was entirely about our one-and-only Offensive Dynamo, Danny Syvret. DSOD logged a staggering 14:48 of ice time, which was more than seven of his teammates. DSOD even had the puck on his stick in the offensive zone with less than a minute left in overtime. I peed a little. Inexplicably, DSOD passed, and therefore the Flyers failed to score. Let’s hope that mistake doesn’t happen again any time soon.
  • With the Bettman point, the Flyers are now tied for first in the East, with the tiebreak in hand against Washington. I’m not convinced there’s a huge difference between first and second, but I can’t say I would turn down first, either.
  • JVR’s age = JVR’s jersey number = JVR’s goal total. I’ll wait while you sweep up the pieces of your blown mind.
  • Ville Leino was benched for much of the later end of the game. Danny Briere was out with a mysterious lower body ailment, which was also the given reason for Blair Betts leaving the game. Hopefully none of these problems linger.

One week. Three games left.  All sorts of scoreboard watching.  Go Flyers.
