The Flyers announced Friday morning that with four preseason games left on the schedule — five if you count Saturday’s scrimmage “against” the “Lehigh Valley Phantoms” — they’ve made further cuts to their roster.
Gone to the AHL are forward Taylor Leier and Darroll Powe. They’ll both be playing in Allentown this season, Powe the crafty veteran and ex-Flyers who could be a call up at some point if there’s an injury, and Leier, the first-year pro who certainly impressed in his first camp as a pro. On waivers with the intention of being sent to the Phantoms are defensemen Oliver Lauridsen and Brandon Manning, and forward Andrew Gordon.
Yes, that means guys like Shayne Gostisbehere, Scott Laughton, Samuel Morin, Jason Akeson, Blair Jones and P-E Bellemare are still in camp.
