In quite the bombshell of news, the Philadelphia Flyers have called up star prospect Morgan Frost from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

Frost, a 2017 first round pick, has been one of the most talked about prospects this team has had in recent memory. That’s large in part due to his ridiculous numbers in the Ontario Hockey League with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds where he posted 100+ point seasons in back-to-back years.
He’s followed that up with 12 points in 16 games with the Phantoms so far this season, along with a strong 53.47 Corsi percentage according to Brad’s Phancy Stats. In a corresponding move, Carsen Twarynski has been sent back to the Phantoms for the second time this season. Although he had some flashes in another short stint here, he just wasn’t doing enough to keep his job.

One would assume this does not bode well for Nolan Patrick returning to action soon, as Frost could very well find himself as the team’s new third line center. This move continues a trend with general manager Chuck Fletcher, in that there is a definite bias for action as soon as the team starts to falter. For an offense that has been struggling of late, Frost will hope to provide some much needed firepower and creativity to the forward core.
