Philadelphia Flyers prospect Carter Hart has won the WHL’s Western Conference player of the Year award and will go up against San Jose Sharks prospect Jayden Halbgewachs for the honor of being named WHL Player of the Year.

To say Hart has had a great season would be an understatement. His .947 save percentage, 1.60 goals against average, and seven shutouts all led the league, and he had the fourth-most wins this season with 31. No other WHL goaltender got even close to matching his save percentage and goals against average.
In fact, his .947 save percentage is so unprecedentedly high that it’s the highest by a WHL goaltender since the 1997-98 season, and quite possibly longer. Hart will make the jump to pro next season, most likely joining the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, where I’m sure fans and analysts alike will be paying close attention to how well his AHL rookie season goes.
The Everett Silvertips’ first-round playoff series begins this Friday, March 23rd, against the Seattle Thunderbirds.
