On a night that saw Nolan Patrick score his first career NHL goal, Valtteri Filppula take ownership of his power play position with a pair of tallies and Travis Konecny unleash a beautiful snipe en route to erasing a 3-0 deficit and taking a 5-3 lead, the post-game show should have been a jubilant affair.
Unfortunately, Dale Weise, Andrew MacDonald and Dave Hakstol teamed up for what can only be described as one of the more disastrous ménage à trois in history, combining for a calamity of errors in the final minutes that lead to a 6-5 defeat at the hands of the Nashville Predators.
Bill Matz is back on Facebook Live for the post-game chat to question the coach’s decision making, wonder if maybe MacDonald was just taught to defend incorrectly, and try to extrapolate some positives from a game in which the Flyers scored five consecutive goals and still managed a loss.
