BSH Radio reacts following 5-4 shootout loss in Detroit

Shoddy goaltending and a questionable-at-best effort from the skaters through the first half (and then some) of the game doomed the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night at the Little Caesars Arena, where they lost, 5-4 in a shootout, to the Detroit Red Wings.

The Flyers were able to erase deficits of 3-1 and 4-3 to force overtime, but eventually fell in the skills competition to an opponent that hadn’t won in its previous ten contests, a stretch dating back to February 25th.

Philly dropped to a wild card spot in the standings as the Columbus Blue Jackets surpassed them, beating the New York Rangers 5-3 at Madison Square Garden. Columbus also erased the Flyers regulation/overtime win tie-breaker, and now both teams sit with 35 in that category.

With eight games remaining, the Flyers trail Columbus by a point for third place in the Metropolitan division and hold a four-point lead over the New Jersey Devils (NJ has one game in-hand on Philadelphia) and a five-point lead over the Florida Panthers (FLA has three games in-hand).

The Facebook Live postgame video posed more questions than answers and more frustration than usual following a loss to an inferior opponent. Check out Bill’s reaction below.
