2011 NHL Awards: Ian Laperriere Takes Home Masterton Trophy

For the first time since I can remember, a member of the Philadelphia Flyers is the winner of a major NHL award. He might not have played a game all season, but Ian Laperriere was rewarded for his courage in the 2010 playoffs, winning the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy for dedication and perseverance.

He beat out Ray Emery, who would’ve been a perfectly worthy winner himself, and our other old friend Daymond Langkow, who returned from a horrifying back injury this year. Congrats Lappy. We love you and stuff. /sheds tear

Some other Flyers popped up in the vote totals as well. Details after the jump.
