The All-Star Game is this Sunday in Raleigh. I’ll be on the ground in North Carolina eating all the barbecue I can providing all the coverage I can on the event, obviously with a tilt in the direction of Danny Briere, Claude Giroux and Peter Laviolette.
In the run-up to that, Steve Whyno from Philly Sports Daily and I decided to team up to put together a mock All-Star draft. We’re doing it today at 12 p.m. Eastern, and you can catch it right here, embedded in a CoverItLive chat below the jump.
I’ve taken Team Lidstrom, while Steve’s taken Team Staal. He gets to pick first, but that’s fine because I have the cooler uniforms. That does mean that I have Patrick Kane as one of my assistant captains, but it also means I have Martin St. Louis, who’s honestly pretty cool. Team Staal is stuck with that that Vespa-riding punk, Mike Green — oh, and Ryan Kesler, too.
There are a few drafting rules we have to abide by here.
– Each team needs three goalies, six defensemen and 12 forwards.
– The three goalies need to be selected with the first 10 picks.
– The six defensemen need to be selected with the first 15 picks.
Okay, after the jump, the chat room where we’ll hold the draft is embedded.

Feel free to chat with each other in the comments below in open thread style as we conduct the draft. No clue how long it’s going to take, but it should be pretty fun.
