Perhaps Adam Burish is just afraid of what Chris Pronger can to do him when he comes to town in February, but no matter what his exact motives were for putting his tail between his legs and apologizing to the Flyers defenseman for calling him an “idiot” last June, we have to admit that it was pretty commendable.
That’s what we said about Adam Burish’s apology to Chris Pronger back in October when he was pressed on the issue by NHL Network’s David Amber.
Burish went on a rambling apology after Amber reminded him of February 5th, the first time his Stars play against Pronger and the Flyers, and he said that he hoped Pronger has moved on. Amber, then, hilariously said: “Well I guess we’ll find out on February 5th!” with an evil laugh at the end.
Unfortunately, we won’t find out on the 5th (which is tomorrow if you haven’t figured that out by now). Burish conveniently got his face beat in last night in Boston. Video of that after the jump, which is kind of entertaining if you still hold any ill-will towards Burish for his comments on Pronger after the Cup Final.
Props, Andrew Ference. He broke Burish’s face, and now the guy’s on the IR. Such awesome timing, too.
Well, okay. Maybe it’s not so awesome for the Dallas Stars. I’d try to sum up all of their injuries right now on my own, but I’ve legitimately tried and I’ve confused myself. I’ll let Defending Big D do it.
The Dallas Stars luck with the injury bug has officially run out. Just two games ago when the Edmonton Oilers (mercifully) came to town we thought Jamie Benn and Tom Wandell would miss that game and then the All-Star break would come and magically heal them and Toby Petersen would return and everything would be fine as February returned.
That didn’t happen, and to add injury to more injury (and the insults, oh the insults have come on the scoreboard…) now the Stars will lose Adam Burish for at least seven days as he has been placed on injured reserve. Krys Barch has suffered some kind of apparent eye injury, requiring a hospital visit and a check of his cornea, and Ray Sawada “looked like a mess” last night according to Marc Crawford and had his arm in a sling.
So Travis Morin, after having fainted at the airport on Wednesday, flies up to Philadelphia with Francis Wathier. If you’re having trouble working the math out on your hands cave man style, let me break it down: That’s three injuries and two bodies on the way.
So the Stars will probably roll with seven defensemen on Saturday and that’s only if Mark Fistric can get himself back in the game after battling illness this week.
We might actually analyze the hockey that was played last night here at some point but we’re busy scrubbing ourselves with a wire brush in the shower trying to get the smell of it off.
These are the Stars, free-falling in the Western Conference standings, that are in Philadelphia to take on the Flyers tomorrow night. A few weeks ago, this stretch of Tampa, Nashville and Dallas looked like it could be really difficult. Now there’s no reason why the orange and black can’t win two of three.
