James van Riemsdyk is fine after missing Sunday’s game

UPDATE — The Inquirer reports that Young James likely won’t play on Tuesday vs. Montreal. Still, the injury doesn’t seem too severe and he shouldn’t be out for long.

James van Riemsdyk missed the game in Chicago on Sunday, but according to reports out of Voorhees today, he’s going to be just fine and he should be in the lineup on Tuesday night when the good guys host the Ole Brothers, the Montreal Canadiens.

From Philly Sports Daily:

But the team got good news Monday when the former No. 2 overall pick was on the ice at practice. He was in a normal orange practice jersey and did not appear to be favoring anything in his lower body.

“I was trying to push it a little bit, see how I felt,” van Riemsdyk said. “It felt a little bit better, but we’ll see if I’ll be ready to go tomorrow.”

With JvR out on Sunday, Dan Carcillo was able to find his way back into the lineup. He beat the living hell out of Chicago’s Jake Dowell after he irritated the 25-year-old center with a clean, negligible little hit. With van Riemsdyk presumably back in the lineup tomorrow, Carcillo will return to his spot in the press box as a healthy scratch.

JvR’s been a huge surprise after a very slow start to his season. He’s blossomed into the power forward we all knew he could become (and frankly, we all expected him to become) when the Flyers selected him with the 2nd overall pick in 2007. His absence from the lineup, no matter how awesome Carcillo’s fight was on Sunday, is not a welcome sight.
