(SB Nation) — Future Hall of Famer Jaromir Jagr will play for a Western Conference team for the first time in his career in 2012-13 when he pulls on the uniform of the Dallas Stars. According to TSN’s Pierre LeBrun, Jagr has signed a one-year, $4.5 million contract with the club.
Jagr returned to the NHL last season after a three-year hiatus in the KHL over in Russia. In 73 regular season games with the Philadelphia Flyers, Jagr scored 19 goals and 35 assists with help from a breakout season by budding star Claude Giroux.
He tapered off a bit after a hot start to his season, and by the time the playoffs rolled around was not performing at the same early season level, but the Flyers were still aided by his strong veteran presence in their locker room.. Groin injury issues may have contributed to that slight downfall.
Jagr made $3.3 million on his one-year deal with Philadelphia, signed last July 1.
