Claude Giroux is fine. He’s been checked out down in Atlanta over the last week by chiropractic neurologist Dr. Ted Carrick, and according to his agent Pat Brisson via CSNPhilly.com, Giroux doesn’t have a concussion and there’s “nothing wrong.”
Brisson has experience dealing with this stuff and dealing with Carrick, as he’s also Sidney Crosby’s agent.
“I told [Berlin coach Peter Lee] I wanted to bring Claude here to see Carrick,” Brisson said. “I trust Carrick … I wanted him to do work with Carrick. I have had a lot of players go through Carrick.
“If it weren’t for Carrick, I don’t know about Sidney whether he’d be … 100 percent. I got players going back and forth [to him]. Not medication, just exercises and testing. I talked to Claude [on Tuesday] and he’s happy and feeling great.”
We were admittedly skeptical with his original diagnosis. They said he was fine over in Berlin, and then a few days passed and he was leaving Europe for a visit with the same guy who treated Crosby. That’s reason for alarm, and with the history that the Flyers have with this kind of stuff and trying to cover up injuries or misdiagnosing them or seemingly having every other possible thing go wrong, the alarm was justified.
But this seems legitimate. Now, the question remains whether or not Giroux will return to Berlin for more hockey. Even if he’s 110 percent healthy, this little episode makes me hope more than ever that the next jersey he wears on the ice is orange, black and white.
