After far too long a wait, Flyers training camp opens this Sunday morning in Voorhees. Here’s the full list of players who will take part in the abbreviated camp, which will be just a week long as the team prepares for the season opener next Saturday, Jan. 19 against the Penguins:
* Forwards (16): Claude Giroux, Sean Couturier, Danny Briere (not skating), Ruslan Fedotenko, Scott Hartnell, Scott Laughton, Tye McGinn, Matt Read, Zac Rinaldo, Brayden Schenn, Tom Sestito, Jody Shelley, Wayne Simmonds, Max Talbot, Jakub Voracek, Eric Wellwood.
* Defensemen (8): Braydon Coburn, Kurtis Foster, Bruno Gervais, Nicklas Grossmann, Andreas Lilja, Andrej Meszaros, Luke Schenn, Kimmo Timonen.
* Goaltenders (3): Ilya Bryzgalov, Michael Leighton, Brian Boucher.
* Injured (3): Chris Pronger, Marc-Andre Bourdon, Matt Walker.
The roster size is still 23 during the shortened season, so (obviously) there will be cuts made. Laughton, McGinn, Sestito and Wellwood are the forwards fighting hardest to stay, while on defense it’ll be Foster, Lilja and Gervais fighting for the final two jobs. Boucher is likely just insurance as a goaltender and will have trouble winning a roster spot in such a short training camp.
Here’s a PDF of the roster you can print and bring with you to Voorhees.
