7 – the number of players in the National Hockey League currently with more assists than Claude Giroux this season. (Another one, Ryan Getzlaf, is tied with Giroux’s 37 assists).
Of those seven players, only three of them — Sidney Crosby, Joe Thornton, and John Tavares — are Canadian forwards. (Getzlaf is also included in this group.)
But, y’know, any time you can leave that guy home for the Olympics because he missed a game of ball hockey in August while rehabbing from an injury, you just gotta do it.
