This hit is a bit of a complicated hit. For starters, it’s definitely interference. But other than that, Pierre McGuire is — ugh — right in that Couturier could’ve done a better job taking the hit. That being said, Simon Despres also seemed to go a little bit out of his way to catch Couturier up high.
All told, good on R.J. Umberger for going after Despres for this hit, and let’s consider it lucky that Couturier didn’t take an elbow to the head here.
