2015 NHL All-Star Draft results: Claude Giroux, Jakub Voracek will play against each other

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Claude Giroux will play against Jakub Voracek at the 2015 NHL All-Star Game.

Voracek was selected with Team Toews’ third pick, the 8th overall pick, and the captain made sure to point out that he’s “the NHL’s leading scorer.” Nice having that guy play for the Flyers. Giroux was selected with the 14th overall pick, Team Foligno’s seventh pick. Peter Laviolette coaches Team Toews. Who do we root for?

Phil Kessel went second overall, the first selection by Team Toews, and Toews pretty much won the whole thing right off the bat by dropping “he’s one of the most coachable players out there” joke. Who knew he could be funny?

Apparently Phil’s not so coachable though, because the teams decided to make their one before trade in Round 12. “It worked out for everybody before,” they said, and Toews sent Kessel to Team Foligno in exchange for … yes, Tyler Seguin. Kessel was of course traded from Boston to Toronto in exchange for a first round draft pick in the 2010 draft, which eventually turned into Seguin.

Alex Ovechkin really stole the show though. The Capitals captain was clearly just absolutely bombed the entire time, and he was begging to be picked last so he could get the free car. Just to piss him off though, Team Foligno took him with their 17th pick — just four away from the end.

Ryan Johansen of the hometown Blue Jackets was the first overall pick, to the surprise of absolutely zero people, joining his CBJ teammate on Team Foligno. With Sergei Bobrovsky injured, the entire CBJ contingent was together on the same team after just one pick.
