The Flyers will give you free hot dog sandwiches because the Pope is coming to town

If you’ve been in Philadelphia lately, you know how much of a pain in the neck this Pope visit thing is going to be at the end of September. We discussed last week how it would impact the Flyers preseason game against the Islanders on September 25, and … well, the team listened.

They’ve moved the game up one hour, from 7 p.m. to 6 p.m., to make it easier for fans to get home afterwards. That night, major roads in the area — including the Schyulkill Expressway and the Ben Franklin Bridge — will close to traffic at 10 p.m. Moving the game up one hour should give fans plenty of time to get home before the closures go into effect.

Good job, Flyers. Better job with this, though:

In addition, all fans in attendance at the September 25 game will enjoy free hot dogs, pretzels, and soft drinks, as well as 50% off all Flyers merchandise at the Fan Zone powered by Reebok store, the 47 store, and retail stands inside of the Wells Fargo Center.
Since a number of local schools have announced closures, college students can purchase $20 tickets to the pre-season game at the Wells Fargo Center Box Office on the day of the game by showing a valid college ID. Tickets are first-come, first-served, and quantities are limited and subject to availability.

FREE HOT DOGS, PRETZELS AND SOFT DRINKS.

This whole Pope visit thing just suddenly became worth it.
