The Philadelphia Flyers were back in action at the Wells Fargo Center looking to keep their streak of games going as they hosted the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Things got off on the right foot as Jake Voracek gave the Flyers an early lead in the first period. Columbus would answer right back just two minutes later, keeping things tied heading into the intermission.
Riding that momentum, the Blue Jackets got a goal early in the second period and looked to keep a lead into the second break, but James van Riemsdyk tied things up on the power play. The momentum wouldn’t be enough, however, as Boone Jenner got the lead right back for Columbus. They would then add on a fourth goal in the early stages of the third period, making a victory look slim for the Orange and Black heading into the third.
The Flyers fought back for a remarkable third period that will certainly be one to remember this season. Shayne Gostisbehere finally got on the board this season with a shot from the point, then van Riemsdyk followed up with a redirect off a Provorov pass to tie the game at four.
A minute later, Kevin Hayes disrupted a pass in his own zone, skated the other way on a shorthanded breakaway and finished to give the Flyers a 5-4 lead, putting the Wells Fargo Center into a frenzy. Michael Raffl would add a goal on the empty net and Travis Konecny would score with 13 seconds left on the power play to clinch a thrilling 7-4 victory for the Orange and Black.
They return to action on Sunday night against the New York Islanders, puck drop is 7pm.
